Obituary of Janet Fortune

" Janet L. (Cole) Fortune, 66, of Center St. Thorndike, died Sun. at home. Born in Middletown, Ct, July 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Peterson) Cole. She has lived in the Palmer area since 1957, moving to Ormond Beach, FL from 1990—1996, returning to Thorndike in 1996. Mrs. Fortune was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, and worked as an RN for 10 years at Monson Developmental Center before retiring in 1990. She had previously been the Palmer School Nurse for 5 years and was also a nurse at Wing Memorial Hospital for 20 years. Janet was also a communicant of St. Anne's Church. Her husband Roger G. Fortune died December 10, 1994. She is survived by 2 sons, Roger G., Jr. of Palmer, and George J. of Thorndike, 3 daughters Laurie Erickson of Palmer and Karen M. Germaine of Thorndike, and Denee Y. Fortune of Bondsville. She also leaves 8 grandchildren. A funeral service will be Wed. at 12:15 p.m. from the BEERS & STORY PALMER FUNERAL HOME followed by a mass at 1:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Tues. 2:00—4:00 & 7:00—9:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to the Palmer Library Building Fund, 1485 N. Main St, Palmer. "
