Obituary of Tony Fournier

Granby, Roger "Tony" Fournier, 96, died peacefully on Saturday February 8th surrounded by his fellow veterans at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke.  Born in South Hadley Falls, he was the son of Rudolph and Matilda (Michaud) Fournier.  Tony proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII.  Returning from the war, he met the love of his life, the late Claire E. (Landry) and they were happily married for 68 years before her death in 2015.  Tony owned and operated "Tony's Barber Shop" located in Granby for over 30 years, before retiring.  He was a devout Catholic and active communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.  He was also involved in Granby Town politics and served on the School Committee.  Tony was a proud member of the Granby American Legion Post 266.  He will be forever missed and remembered by his three sons, Dean-o and his wife Susan of Pensacola, FL, Mark and his wife Michelle of Westfield and Kerry and his wife Catherine of South Hadley, along with eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by 14 siblings.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15th at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home by 8:45 am.  Burial with military honors will follow in West Cemetery.  Calling hours will be on Friday, February 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St.  Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/donate.  Please visit www.beersandstory.com to send an online condolence.
