Obituary of Phyllis T. Baran

 

Phyllis T. Baran, 79, formerly of South Hadley passed away March 15, 2020 surrounded by her family.   She was born on September 12, 1940 in Holyoke, to James and Theresa (Parks) Byrnes.  Phyllis was raised in Holyoke and attended Holyoke  Schools.  After high school, she graduated from Peter Bent Brigham Nursing School in Boston.   She worked at the former Providence Hospital, and retired as a registered nurse for Dr. Khatak in Holyoke where she worked for many years.   She lived in South Hadley from 1969-2001, then moved to Sarasota, FL for a several years and then settled with her daughter in Uxbridge, MA.    Phyllis was a member of St. Theresa's Parish in South Hadley.  In her leisure, she enjoyed playing cards, reading,  walks on the beach, spending time with her neighbors and above all spending time with her grandchildren.    She is survived by two, children Kathleen Klos of Uxbridge,  Mark Baran and his wife Leslie of Granby and a brother James Byrnes of Holyoke.  She will be missed by six grandchildren, Jonathan, Kiley, Patrick, Brooklyn, Daniel and Markus.     Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Ronald J. Baran,  son, Matthew Baran and siblings, John Byrnes and Shirley Jackson.    All services are private due to the current circumstances and Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the services.   Please offer your condolences to the family on our website at www.beersandstory.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  the Matthew Baran Memorial Scholarship Fund Donations can be sent care of Sullivan at 25 Lathrop St South Hadley, MA 01075.
