Obituary of Thomas H. Powers

Thomas H. Powers, 57, passed away unexpectedly May 25, 2020 at home.   He was born on January 25, 1963 in Edwards Airforce Base, California to Edward and Margaret (Schweinsberger) Powers.  Tom grew up in Granby and has lived there most of his adult life.  He received an associated degree in nursing from Holyoke Community College and worked as a registered nurse for many years.   He was an avid skier, loved the New England Patriots, and in his youth was a Dead Head traveling to see the Grateful Dead from concert to concert.  Tom will be remembered most for his great sense of humor and ability to make people laugh. Thomas was predeceased by his mother, Margaret in 2017.  He is survived by his father, Edward Powers, Sr. of Granby and siblings Edward Powers, Jr. of Springfield, Margaret Karsh of Centennial, CO, Marianne Powers of Chicopee, Elizabeth Powers of Granby and Katherine Powers of Chicopee.  He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews. Due to the current situation the family will be holding services at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hairston House, 25 Graves Ave., Northampton, MA 01060.  A substance abuse recovery program for men with addiction.  A place that provided support to Tom when he needed it.
