Obituary of Mildred I. Gerow-Christenson

Belchertown-Mildred I. Gerow-Christenson, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2020.  born July 10, 1923 in Springfield, she was the daughter of William and Mildred (Mulligan) Fisher.  Mildred previously lived in Springfield and East Longmeadow before moving to Belchertown in 1993.  For many years, she lived at Pine Valley Plantation and was a  past director. Millie has lived at Christopher Heights for the past two years and was one of the very first residents to move in to the new facility.  She was very active in the Belchertown Senior Center.  She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and was an avid reader.  She dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Millie was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur Gerow in 1966 and her second husband, Albert Christenson in 2015.  She will be dearly missed by her children, Susan Zuron and son in law Michael of Belchertown, Carol Gerow of N.Adams, Arthur Gerow and daughter in law Susan of Northport NY, and step son Ely Christenson and daughter in law Rena of E.Longmeadow.  She also leaves six grandchildren, step grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews  along with her sister, Florence Branscombe of TN.   Besides her parents, Arthur and Albert, Millie was predeceased by her step daughter, Helen Balsewicz, sister, Claire Wickett, and brothers, William and Francis Fisher.  Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Belchertown Senior Center, 60 State St., Belchertown, MA 01007.
