Obituary of Ruth Lois McNamee

East Longmeadow - Ruth L. (Hawn) McNamee, 73, passed away after battling cancer on July 4, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 6, 1946 in Springfield, MA to Norman and Hildegarde (Kunitz) Hawn.  She was raised in Springfield and lived there for most of her life before moving to E. Longmeadow ten years ago.  Ruth was a longtime active member of Grace Baptist Church in Springfield where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years.   She is currently a member of Bethlehem Church in Hampden and was the former secretary of the Ladies Missionary Group.  Ruth enjoyed going to the beach and most of all getting together with her family to celebrate special occasions.  She will be deeply missed by her four children, Karl McNamee of Greenfield,  Barbara Moody and her husband Christopher of Springfield,  Melissa Buxton and her husband Eric of Granby, Rebecca Glynn and her husband Kevin of Stamford, CT.  She is also survived by her sister, Marie Hemann of W. Ossipee, NH, six precious grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, Alexia, Drew, Kayla and Aurora and her great granddaughter, Rayne.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James R. McNamee and a sister, Jane Unrau.   A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Parker St. in Springfield.   Donations may be made in her memory to Bethlehem Church, 123 Allen St., Hampden, MA 01036.
