Obituary of Arthur H. Vollbrecht

Arthur H. Vollbrecht, 73, of Granby, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Son of the late Herman and Lorna (Vollmer) Vollbrecht, he was born in Saginaw, MI on June 22, 1947. After graduating from high school, Arthur went on to join the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country while stationed in Guam, flying B-52s and also became the youngest crew chief at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, MA. After his service, Arthur worked in quality control at Pratt & Whitney for over 40 years before retiring. Arthur's biggest passion was NASCAR and could be found every weekend at the races. Arthur will be missed by all who knew him, including his children Karl Vollbrecht of Chicopee and Kandace Vollbrecht and her daughter, Rosalynn of Granby; his sister Barbara Holmes and her husband, Marty, as well as his brother, Jon Vollbrecht, all of Michigan; as well as many extended family members and friends.  In addition to his parents, Arthur is predeceased by his loving wife, Rosemary (Williams) Vollbrecht who passed away in July 2019. Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation on Friday, July 24, 2020 beginning at 10am at the Beers & Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. South Hadley, MA 01075. A funeral home service will be begin at 11 am, followed by interment in West Street Cemetery, Granby, MA 01033. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mercy Medical Center, Office of Philanthropy, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 320635, Hartford, CT  06132-9900In compliance with state & local guidelines, all guests are kindly reminded to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
