Obituary of Edward C. Kedzior

South Hadley-Edward C. Kedzior, passed away August 20, 2020.  He was born September 1, 1937 in Holyoke, son of Edward and Caroline (Gancarz) Kedzior.  Edward proudly served  his country in the U.S. Navy and graduated to become an aircraft mechanic.  He served on the aircraft carriers Forrester-Essex, Saratoga and flew out of Quonset Point, RI to other destinations.  For 36 years, Edward worked in the Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster in South Hadley.  He started as a carrier in South Hadley and also was an Officer In Charge of many local post offices before becoming Postmaster.  Prior to the Post Office, Edward worked for Pratt & Whitney, Krispy Spuds and also delivered the Transcript Telegram daily.  While in Holyoke High School, Edward became a drummer.  He continued playing after graduation and after the service.  He played at the Whale Inn and with Larry Chesky and many other groups, most always Polka.  He was past president of the South Hadley Lions Club and Knights of Columbus along with being in the Musicians Union and Postmaster Retirees.  He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross and the former Mater Dolorosa Church.  Edward will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Authier) along with their children, Michael and his wife, Elaine Kedzior of Feeding Hills, Donald Kedzior of South Hadley, and Lisa Nemeth and her husband, Ernie of Ludlow, as well as his sister, Nancy A. Kedzior of Westfield.  Edward also leaves his grandchildren, Justine Kedzior, Haley Nemeth and Paige Nemeth.  Edward was predeceased by his grandson, Sean Kedzior.  Many local relatives and cherished friends will also dearly miss him.  Visitation will be Sunday August 23rd from 2:30-5:00 p.m. with a service to begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Hadley Lions Club., 506 Granby Rd, South Hadley MA 01075.
