Obituary of Barbara Dawn Calhoun Walz

South Hadley-Barbara Dawn Calhoun Walz, 86, passed away August 21, 2020.  Born in Holyoke on April 22, 1934, she was the daughter of Dorothy C. (Kurtz) and George W. Parker.  Dawn graduated from South Hadley High School and furthered her education at Mt. Holyoke College.  She began studying piano at the age of 10.  Dawn has made music her life.  She was the organist at Our Savior Lutheran Church in South Hadley since the age of 15 until her retirement in 1996 along with being a piano and organ teacher until 2012.  Dawn was an extremely kind and caring person and was very proud of her student's accomplishments.  Her greatest wish was for her children and grandchildren to be a God loving family and always stay together.  Dawn will be greatly missed by so many friends that she has made over her 86 years in South Hadley.  To cherish her memory, Dawn leaves her children, Richard L. Calhoun, Cheryl L. Bisson and husband Camilio, Ronald L. Calhoun and Glenn A. Calhoun all of South Hadley.  She is also survived by her two step children, Frances Cavagnac and husband David of Easthampton and Tracey Walz of Wells, ME.  Her grandchildren, Kyle L.M. Bisson, Kaisey C. Calhoun, Robert D. Calhoun and wife Melissa, Wesley D. Calhoun, Chelsea L. Calhoun all of South Hadley and Ashely A. Vescio (Greg) of Westfield along with great grandchildren Kolson A. Vescio and Baby Calhoun expected in October, will all hold her memory close.  Dawn was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence L. Calhoun and second husband, Frank W. Walz.  For everyone's safety and comfort, the family wishes to invite friends and family to a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m.  Masks are required and social distancing must be observed for everyone's protection.  Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Barbara Dawn Calhoun Walz Music Scholarship c/o People's Bank.  For details, please visit www.beersandstory.com
