Obituary of Oscar Samson

Mr. Oscar Samson, 92, of Woodbridge, CT died Sunday November 15, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital. His late devoted wife of 62 years, Elsie Marie (Shippee) Samson died in 2011. 
Born in Fall River, MA the son of the late Alexis Samson and Fabiola (Cote) Samson, he was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River. He served in the Massachusetts State Guard during World War II. He lived most of his married life in Vernon, CT where he raised his family, and retired. He spent his last 13 years in Woodbridge, CT. 
Oscar enjoyed photography, reading “talking” books, music, discussing politics and the latest events, and his family. In his younger days he had a photography studio, and taught ball room dancing for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He trained as an X-Ray Technologist at Hartford Hospital and then worked for the State of Connecticut Health Department where he retired after 25 years in 1975. 
He leaves his sister Lorraine Pecoraro and her husband Raymond of Brooklyn, NY; three daughters - Valerie J. Bernier and her husband Gerard of Wales, MA; Dr. Jacqueline A. Samson-Jain and her husband Dr. Rakesh Jain of Wellesley, MA; Lucille Samson-Heidkamp and her husband Kenneth Heidkamp of Southbury, CT; five grandchildren - Emily Gaston, Melody Gaston Milner, John Paul Heidkamp, Anjali and Natalie Jain; three great-grandchildren and 23 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Doris (Samson) Caisse, and his brothers Roland A. Samson, and Raymond F. (Pee Wee) Samson. 
His funeral Mass will be held on November 28, 2020 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Brimfield, MA at 11 AM with viewing one hour prior and interment at St. Anne Cemetery in Sturbridge, MA. For those who are unable to attend in person, services will be available to be streamed virtually.
