Obituary of Vincent J. Jackson, Jr.

Vincent J. Jackson, Jr., of South Hadley, passed away on January 2, 2021, after a long illness. He was 81. Vin was born in Holyoke on October 5, 1939, to the late Vincent and Julia (Wojtanowicz) Jackson. Raised in the Fairview section of Chicopee, he was a graduate of Chicopee High School and American International College. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army in Wurzburg, Germany as a Pay Specialist, Personnel Division at Wurzburg Hospital. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Vin was a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (F.D.I.C.) for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

Vin belonged to the American Legion Post 435. He was a 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #4044. He also was a member and past president of the Beavers Club, a non-profit service organization.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael. F. Foley, Jr. Vin’s long-time companion, Elaine Mutch, died in November 2020. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Eileen Curran and husband Emmett of Richmond, Kentucky and Joanne Tomaszewski and husband John of South Hadley; five loving nieces and nephews, seven grandnieces and nephews and a host of cousins.

Walk through visitation will be held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 from 3-6 PM. The family requests that face masks and social distancing protocol be observed.
