Obituary of Eloise A. Hartbarger

Granby-Eloise (Faircloth) Hartbarger, 86, passed away on February 18, 2021 from complications of a stroke, one day shy of her 87th birthday. She was born in Bolling, Alabama on February 19, 1934 to the late Irby and Lottie Mae (Downing) Faircloth. Eloise went to Georgiana High School and graduated valedictorian of the class of 1952. She continued her education at the University of Montevallo and graduated in 1956 earning a degree in education.

     Eloise was an eleven time President Award winner as an Avon sales representative. She worked at Farmers Home Administration in Hadley and Northampton. She also worked many years as a receptionist for Dr. Bombardier. Eloise and her husband, Ron, enjoyed participating in various bowling leagues together. She was a secretary of the American Legion Post 266 Women’s Auxiliary for a number of years. She and Ron looked forward to many gambling adventures to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and most of all Mohegan Sun and more recently MGM, Springfield.

     She always loved the Christmas celebrations, numerous birthday parties and sporting events of her children, grandkids and great grandchildren. She is survived by the love of her life, Ron, whom she was married to for 63 years. Eloise also leaves three sons, Rick (Linda) of Chicopee, Michael of Granby and Thomas of Granby. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Inez Luckie (Robert), of Pratville, Alabama. Eloise and Ron enjoyed their two grandchildren, Brenda (Hartbarger) Jacques (Ed) of Chicopee and Jeremy Hartbarger (Jen) of Ludlow. She also enjoyed her four great grandchildren Anna, Ella, Mason and Caden. She is predeceased by her sister, Irby Jean Blakesley of Mesa, Arizona.

     Beers & Story Funeral Home of South Hadley has been entrusted with the private services of the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Eloise was a caring, compassionate person and contributed to various charities. For those wishing, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
