Obituary of Mary A. Polchlopek
Granby -Mary A. (Rosinski) Polchlopek, passed gently in the comforting presence of her children at the Holyoke Medical Center on Tuesday morning. Home birthed in Granby, on July 4, 1925 she was the daughter of Frank and Rose (Zielinski) Rosinski. Educated in the Granby school system and South Hadley High School '43, she was also a graduate of the Providence Hospital School of Nursing becoming a registered nurse in 1946. She began her nursing career in the original Providence Hospital of Holyoke a member of the obstetrics ward where babies were being born in the elevator. She went on to do private patient nursing at both the Holyoke and Providence Hospitals and in home care. She retired from the Granby school system where she was the school nurse for the East Meadow and the High School. In early retirement Mary enjoyed camping, travel and antiquing. In later years she much enjoyed visits with friends and family. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael, brothers Steve, Frank, John, Joe, Walter, Edward and sister, Rose Rimbold. She is survived by her sister, Helen Bozek and children, Ann (John), Michael with whom she lived, Stephen (Cheryl) and Janice (Robert). She also leaves grandchildren, Jennifer, Meaghan and Andrew and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, Mar. 22, 2021 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
