Obituary of Barbara L. Soutiere

Palmer-Barbara L (Carter) Soutiere passed away peacefully on March 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, MA to the late Francis and Eleanor Guimond Carter on October 17,1930. She  leaves  her late brother Robert F. Carter.  Barbara was a graduate of the American Academy of Ballet in 1949, to later become a ballerina of the Radio City Music Hall. She always had the biggest smile on her face at all times while doing what she loved to do and that was dancing where ever she was. She had also appeared as a dancer, alongside of her former dance partner Paul Haakon, on one of the very first episodes of the Milton Berle Show on October 5,1948. Later on she found the love of her life , the late Henry Richard Soutiere and were married for a wonderful 44 years. She leaves four wonderful children Wendy , her husband Wayne Erickson with whom she had lived with from Palmer, MA, April Johnson from San Diego, California, Henry Peter, his wife Mara Soutiere from Boulder, Colorado and  William , wife Sherri Soutiere from Vineland, New Jersey. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, and also had nine great-grandchildren with one on the way. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and cousins.  The memorial service will be private. Family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Baystate State Health Hospice , Springfield, Mass. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and services.
