Obituary of Therese R. Heroux

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, Therese Rita (Champagne) Heroux, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away in her home in South Hadley surrounded by her loving family. Born in Auburn, ME. in 1942, she became a long-time resident of Chicopee prior to moving to South Hadley in her retirement years. She loved her summer vacations at Old Orchard Beach, ME. with her extended family as well as her bingo nights with family and friends; no one was more passionate about her Bingo than Terry. When not with her beloved husband, Roger, or her children or grandchildren, you could find Terry at the Castle of Knights Bingo on most Thursday evenings. Her greatest joy was family gatherings and if she could get you to play cards, she was the happiest. Even though she only had 3 children, there were always many more at her home. She made it a place where all felt welcome. She worked at Spaulding in Chicopee for many years before retiring from Falls Machine. Terry leaves behind, and will be passionately missed by, her loving husband of 61 years, Roger P. Heroux, as well as her daughters, Diane Kachinski and husband Robert of South Hadley; Barbara McNerney and her husband, Gary, of Granby; and her son, Mark Heroux of Chicopee. She will also be sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Corey and Victoria Kachinski, Kyle and Jena McNerney, and Jacob and Nicole Heroux. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Champagne and his wife, Nancy, of Springfield; brother, Normand Champagne and his wife, Peggy, of Westfield; sister, Pauline Champagne of Chicopee; brother, Peter Cogswell and wife, Lillie, of Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. 
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2nd from 11:30a.m.-1:15p.m. with family reflections to be shared at 1:15p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A private burial service will follow. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Baystate Hospice, 30 Capital Dr. Ste A, West Springfield, MA 01089.
