In 1959, I met Jennett in Oberlin on the second day of my arrival in the United States from Germany. She remained a loyal friend ever since. Ten years later, we lived near each other in Massachusetts. Here she introduced me to New England taking me to Tanglewood to hear the Boston Symphony and hiking to Tuckerman’s Ravine.
When she married Doug, she suddenly had a complete family with four children. Although the youngest was blind, he was taken everywhere including on overseas trips. Jennett was the best organized person and managed the family while continuing to teach.
Jennett had many interests beyond science. She was very knowledgeable about classical music and attended every concert within 50 miles of her home. She had a subscription to the Springfield Symphony up to the last years of her life. She ws an passionate traveler and an excellent photographer.
In addition to music, Jennett loved literature, especially poetry and art. She often alerted me to notable exhibitions, including those in New York and Boston.
When severe health problems set and she could not read any longer, she never complained but listened to even more music. During our last conversation on the phone, she told me that more than anything she enjoyed chamber music. She will be missed.

To the family of Jennett Teece:
Jennett was a longtime friend of mine. My opportunties to know her well came at Center Church, Mount Holyoke College, Alvord Place, and (most recently) Loomis Village. We had had interesting chats, walks on Loomis trails, and exercise classes together..
Jennett was a brright, lively, kind person. I, along with many others, will miss her greatly!
