Obituary of Gloria L. Smith

Belchertown - Gloria L. (Allegrezza) Smith, 86 previously of Belchertown and Davenport, FL, passed away May 20, 2021.  She was the wife of Michael D. Smith, who passed away in 2001.  

Gloria was born on July 3, 1934 in Springfield, daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Tonti) Allegrezza, and lived many years in Chicopee before moving to Belchertown.  She worked at Baybank for 34 years before retiring.  She was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Belchertown.

Gloria was a feisty, humorous lady whose sense of humor was woven into many of her conversations.   She was an avid reader, and enjoyed the time spent with her late husband in their Davenport, FL home where they wintered.  Gloria enjoyed lunches with her sons and spending time with her children, cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  In her earlier years, she loved traveling.

Gloria is survived by five children, Mary K. "Katy" Perreault, of Feeding Hills, Kathy Martin of Springfield, Margaret Powell of Chicopee, Michael Smith, Jr., and Patrick Smith, both of Springfield, 15 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by all of her older siblings.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St.  prior to a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Jabish St.  Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
