Obituary of Donald W. Gallant

Agawam- Donald Walter Gallant, 79, passed away June 29, 2021. He was born on November 25, 1941 in Springfield to the late Theodore Walter and Blanche (Hould) Gallant. Donald proudly served his country as a SP4 in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Don was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley where he sang in the choir. Don worked for Sinclair International in Holyoke as a wire weaver for many years. He was an avid wood worker and could build anything from furniture, clocks, and dollhouses to toys and windmills. Don used his talents to build a loom with which he would weave blankets to donate to the poor. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann (Sampson) Gallant. He leaves a son, John N. Gallant of VT; granddaughter, Kayla Gallant; sisters, Carol Goulet of Southampton and Lucille Gallant of Stuart, FL.; niece, Catherine Rezendes of Ware; nephew, Matthew Goulet of Taunton; as well as his nephew, Andrew Goulet, his wife Brandee and their daughter Zelda of Easthampton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8th from 6-8 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on July 9th at St. Theresa's in South Hadley at 9:00 a.m.. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels by visiting meals-on-wheels.com
