Obituary of Susan Marie Klassanos

Susan M. Klassanos, 78, of Monson MA, passed unexpectedly on August 31, 2021. Born in Springfield MA on July 6, 1943 to the late Francis Mailloux and Germaine (Duval). Her beloved husband Peter D. Klassanos preceded her in death in 2016. Susan was a fiercely devoted wife, cherishing time spent with Peter. Meeting in 1957 and marrying on December 29, 1962. Dancing was a favorite pastime of theirs, attending three proms and regularly visiting the Mountain Park ballroom. Friday night was music night for many years with friends and her young family, accompanying Peter’s guitar with her vocals. Susan shared Peter’s enthusiasm for automobiles, from her Fiat convertible sold to finance their first home to the variety of sports cars, Thunderbirds and Firebirds, it was always about more than just transportation. Sailing and fishing were also passions she shared with Peter. Dogs were a big part of her life, bringing their joy to her households for decades. Downhill skiing was an activity enjoyed with her entire immediate and extended family for many years. An extremely talented artist in many formats, she especially loved painting and photography as well as sharing her needlework skills by making a sail or mending for others. She was a gifted coiffeuse, proudly maintaining her license for 60 years and always looking her best. Susan leaves a son, Christopher (Kimberli), granddaughters Emily, Natalie and Maggie. She also leaves her beloved sister, Barbara Adams and her husband Joseph, cherished nephews, Louis Adams (Donna), Kevin Adams (Fernando) and dearest niece, Kathleen Pappas (Chuck). In laws Anne Brown (Don), Martha Richard (Gary), Karen Klassanos, Gary Palmer, Brian Klassanos (Martha), Goddaughter Alexandra Klassanos and many thoughtful and caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Susan was predeceased by her three sons: Francis, Theodore and Peter. All services a private.
