Obituary of Thomas F Small
South Hadley-Thomas F. Small, 81, passed away September 13, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born November 1, 1939 in Worcester, he was the son of Clarence E. and Mary C. (McManus) Small. Tom served in the Air Force Reserves for six years then worked as an electrician for New England Power and Arizona Public Service until retiring in 2002.
Along the way, he relocated his family from their New England roots to the wild west of Scottsdale, Arizona in 1977 where he developed a love for golf that he maintained the rest of his life along with an affection for the Boston Bruins and Red Sox. In 2018, Tom was predeceased by his wife, Ann G. (Dressell) Small and in 2020, his sister, Rosemary Small.
Tom leaves behind his two sons, Kenneth F. Small and his husband Danny Chipp of Orlando, FL, and Daniel R. Small of Phoenix, AZ along with his first wife of over four decades and mother to his sons, Theresa A. (Bianco) Small, grandchildren Sierra K. Harris-Small, Rylan K. Harris-Small, and Jenna Aquino as well as nieces and nephews. Tom also leaves behind Ann's children, Deborah Benard of Chicopee, Bruce Benard of Worcester, Keith and his wife Cindy Benard of Palmdale, CA and Dawn Benard of South Hadley.
Visitation will be held Thursday Sept 23rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass Friday Sept 24th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery.
