Obituary of Janet A. Coughlin

South Hadley- Janet A. Coughlin, 95, passed away September 23, 2021. She was born on June 2, 1926 in Lowell to the late Ernest and Ethel Barter. Jan was a graphic designer and previously worked as a freelancer before her employment at Sweet Life Foods as the Assistant Director of Advertising. She retired from Sweet Life Foods after 20+ years of hard work. As an artist, Jan enjoyed spending her time taking painting classes and creating beautiful watercolor artwork. She also enjoyed spending time with her life-partner, Kathy, and family. Jan and Kathy enjoyed bowling and traveling to many vacation destinations including Colorado, Aruba, New Orleans, Florida, and Texas. Jan will be forever missed by her life-partner, Kathleen Cote; her loving canine companion, Jake; son, Thomas Coughlin and wife Jacquelyn of FL; son, Kevin Coughlin and wife Robin of Easthampton; and step-sons, David and Eric Pelletier. She also leaves her 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Shannon, Talia, and Courtney; great-grandson, Angelo; as well as a close cousin, Sally Sanborn. A period of visitation will be held on Friday October 1st from 2-4 p.m. and will conclude with a Celebration of Life service starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.
