Obituary of Shirley Helen Wilhelmi

Shirley Helen Wilhelmi, 92, of South Hadley, passed away October 20, 2021 at Majestic Oaks Care Facility in Orange City, Florida. She was born on August 7, 1929 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Raymond and Viola (Turner) Marcotte. Shirley previously worked as a paraprofessional for the South Hadley School system as well as a sales associate at Zal’s in Holyoke. She was president of the South Hadley Booster Club. In her leisure she enjoyed reading, swimming, and enjoying the sun. Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred F. Wilhelmi, Jr. and nephew James Kenney. She will be dearly missed by her children, Rick Wilhelmi of New Hampshire and Christine Woodworth of Florida. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Amy Joao, Sara Van Allan, and Joseph Wilhelmi, as well as her six great grandchildren, Sierra & Sydney Van Allen, Emily, Evan, Ethan and Elisbeth Joao. She will also be missed by her wonderful niece and nephew, Kathleen Raymond and Edward Kenney. Visitation will be held on Tue. Oct. 26th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Wed. Oct. 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley followed by burial at Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. to form a procession. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, Springfield Massachusetts Chapter.
