Obituary of Thomas W Stanley

Palmer-Thomas W. Stanley, 53, passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2021. Born September 10, 1968 in Springfield, he was the son of Charles Stanley, Sr and Josephine A. (Duda).  Thomas grew up in Thorndike, MA and had lived there for his entire life. He graduated from Westfield State College with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Thom worked in a variety of departments at Big Y World Class Market for the first half of his life. He then switched careers and worked for the United States Postal service as a bulk mail handler for the remainder of his life. Thom enjoyed a variety of activities throughout his lifetime. He loved to play chess, pool, and candlepin bowling. Thom was always an avid musician, playing a variety of instruments, creating an extensive karaoke playlist, and attending more concerts than he could count. He loved photography, and always carried a camera in his pocket “just in case” he found something photo-worthy (he always did). Thom also enjoyed curating many collections, especially of video games and Disney movies. He is survived by his daughter, Brianna Stanley of Palmer, a brother, Ronald Blake, Jr of Minnesota, his best friend, Richard Reilly of Springfield, as well as extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1st from 5:00-7:00  p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home.  For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
