Obituary of Ruth M. Vaan Anen

Belchertown—Ruth P. VaanAnen, 102, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December, 22, 2021. Daughter of the late Hjalmar and Hannah (Humalalampi) Paananen, she was born in Gloucester, MA on April 22, 1919. After graduating from high school, Ruth worked as a paper inspector at Fitchburg Paper Company before retiring after 45 years. Ruth moved to Belchertown to reside with her daughter and son-in-law for 25 years, and finally with her granddaughter until her passing. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, including her daughter, Jeanette R. Rossi and her husband Kenneth of Englewood, FL; her two granddaughters, Kimberly A. Rossi and Jill M. (Rossi) Panto, both of Belchertown; her three great grandsons, Christopher J. Besancon, Max J. Perrault, and Drew Perrault, all of Belchertown; her step daughter, Ruth Dawn (VaanAnen) Carbone of Townsend, MA; as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Edwin A. Aho and then by her 2nd husband, Juoko VaanAnen in 1988. Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5-7pm at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belchertown Senior Center.
