Joseph Suleski

Obituary of Joseph Suleski

Granby- Joseph Suleski, 84, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022, in Chicopee. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Rena Desjardins. He is survived by his son, Glen of Granby; Daughter Lori Savage and son-in-law Donald Savage of Indio, California; and his sisters Margie Peltier and Joanne Sicard, both of Chicopee.

Joe was born in Nanticoke, PA, and grew up in Holyoke. From 1955 to 1961, he served in the Navy as a dental technician. Shortly after being discharged from the Navy, he married Rena, and they settled down in Granby. He worked as a supervisor at Westvaco in Springfield for more than 30 years.

Joe loved animals. He and his dog Mack were well known around Granby and at the local McDonalds, where he went for the coffee and Mack went for the hamburgers. He was an avid Texas Hold ‘Em player, enjoying many games with friends. He was part of his family’s regular poker night for more than 50 years.

Joe always had a twinkle in his eyes and was instantly liked by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. “Charming” is the word most used to describe him. And he was a loyal friend.

Words cannot express how much he will be missed, yet we get a small measure of comfort knowing he is reunited with his wife Rena, his faithful companion Mack and many other friends and family members who went before him. And we can only imagine he’s laughing and smiling while holding a royal flush and knowing only joy and peace with his friends and loved ones.

Services for Joe will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 3:00pm, in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA 01001
