Obituary of Edmund A. Lanoue, Jr.

Belchertown—Edmund A. Lanoue, Jr, 54, suddenly passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was born in Hoosick Falls, NY on December 3, 1968. Son of the late Edmund Sr, born in Winooski, VT and Marise (Senecal) Lanoue, born in Bennington VT. Known as JR to many, he was employed for many years with Toyota Summit Lift. In his travels he became a reliable and trusted business person and friend. JR was a dedicated husband, father, and coach.

JR committed hundreds of hours to youth basketball in Belchertown and beyond, watching both his sons and their teammates grow as friends, teammates, and skilled players on the court. He loved coaching and believed in doing it with intensity, accountability and passion. These pillars were how he lived his life.

JR also loved snowmobiling in Island Pond Vermont with his family and friends. Recently, he and Elaine had purchased property in Bethany Beach, Delaware and loved spending summer weeks and long weekends there. The most important thing to JR was his family. He was a loving husband and proud father. His family will forever cherish memories of the wonderful times they spent together.

Edmund will be dearly missed by all who knew him, including his loving wife, Elaine Benoit-Lanoue; his two sons, Corey & Jordan, both of Belchertown; his sisters Laurie (Ben) Patten of Troy, NY and Linda Lanoue of Vermont; his mother-in-law, Lillian Baginski of Ludlow, MA; his brothers-in-law, Robert (Denise) Benoit of Leland, NC and Allen Benoit of Chicopee, MA; his sister-in-law, Janice (Barney) Banks of Chicopee, MA; as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Michael Benoit.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, from 4pm-7pm. Family and friends are asked to meet directly in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 24 Jabish St. Belchertown, Thursday February 10, 2022, for Edmunds Liturgy at 11am. All are welcome.
