Obituary of Maria Hilaria Arias De Saravia
South Hadley-Maria Hilaria Arias De Saravia passed away at home, surrounded by her family and embraced by their love on March 4, 2022 at the age of 83. Maria was born in Ilobasco, El Salvador to the late Vidal Arias and late Ciriaca Ramirez De Arias. In El Salvador, Maria met the love of her life, her soulmate, Benjamin Saravia Rosa. The love that Benjamin and Maria had for one another overflowed to the 10 children they had together. After many visits to Massachusetts, Maria finally made South Hadley her home in 2021. Maria's love of travel didn't stop in Massachussetts, but continued to destinations such as Hawaii and California. If anyone knew Maria, they knew that she also loved the feeling of the warm sun and the sound of crashing waves at the beach. Being a homemaker her whole life, Maria became an amazing hostess. No matter how much or how little she had, Maria always found a way to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Maria was a loving wife, an amazing mother, a kind grandmother, a proud great grandmother and the heart of her family.
In addition to Benjamin, her husband of 65 years, Maria will be deeply missed by her 10 children; Adrian Saravia of El Salvador, Aquiles Saravia of California, Clemente Saravia of Holyoke, Ricardo Saravia of Chicopee, Gaspar Saravia of South Hadley, Oscar Saravia of South Hadley, Dora Saravia of South Hadley, Marta Saravia of South Hadley, Santos Saravia of Hawaii and Alfredo Saravia of Hawaii. The loss of Maria will also be felt by her brothers Miguel Angel Arias and Marcelino Arias.
Walk through visitation will be held on Monday, March 7th from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 8th at 10am at St. Jerome's Church in Holyoke, with burial following at Notre Dame in South Hadley.
