Obituary of Constance M. Loftus
Belchertown—Constance M. (Socha) Loftus, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center. Daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Mastalerz) Socha, she was born
in Belchertown on May 9, 1934. Connie graduated as the valedictorian of Belchertown High School in 1952 and began her work life as an administrative assistant at the Wickwire Spencer Co in Palmer. After spending time in Europe while her husband, Norm, was stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, Connie returned to Belchertown in 1958 to begin raising a family. Following their retirement in 1988, Connie and Norm enjoyed hobby farming and short trips around New England and spent time with their grandkids. Connie was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her 3 children, Ron (Anne) Loftus of Belchertown, Barbara Loftus Nelson (Dana) of Rowley, MA, and Diane Mas (Erik) of Belchertown; her grandchildren Sarah & David Nelson, Colton Loftus, and Parker, Kate & Amy Mas; her sister Patricia Galanski of Westfield; as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Norman S. Loftus and her sister, Dorothy Antonovitch.
A brief visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 24 Jabish St, Belchertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am followed by a procession to South Cemetery for Rites of Committal and Interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Belchertown Senior Center to support the transportation services Connie and her family appreciated so much.
