Obituary of Robert R. Laviolette, Sr.

Palmer-Robert "Bob" R. Laviolette, Sr. passed away June 6, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born August 20, 1934 in N.Brookfield and was the son of Osias and Ionia (Gagne) Laviolette. Robert proudly served his country in the US Army, where he was trained in jungle warfare and was certified as a Jungle Expert. He worked for 41 years at Pearson Industries as a machine operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post 241 in Monson and his true passion was racing Motocross. Time at the track was cherished as he supported his son and grandsons and Bob himself rode dirt bikes until the age of 76. He and his late wife, Janice, did everything together and loved their time at the casino. May 21, 2020, the love of his life, Janice (Lacroix) passed away and knowing they are together again brings some comfort. Robert will be missed by his four children, Robert Laviolette Jr and Laurie of Palmer, Peter Laviolette and April of Lexington, NC, Nancy Pitts and Allan of New Preston, CT, and Lee Chester and CJ of Ware along with ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Robert is also survived by a sister, Joann Rhodes of VT and sister-in-law Mary (Defoe) Laviolette of Palmer. Besides his parents and wife, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Ronald J. Laviolette. Visitation will be held Friday, June 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with military honors to conclude the evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
