Obituary of Lorraine Theresa Samson

Brimfield – Lorraine Theresa (Becker) Samson, 86, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022. She was born on September 20, 1935 in Ware to the late Walter and Blanche (Morin) Becker. She attended schools in the Ware School District. After marrying her first husband Clifford L. Norton in 1954, they built their home in Brimfield where they raised their three children. In 1980, she was married to Guy B. Samson. They briefly lived in Palmer until Guy's passing in 2014 and Lorraine then moved back to Brimfield. Before retiring in 1997, Lorraine worked as a Vocational Instructor for the Monson Developmental Center for many years. She was an active member of Bethany Charismatic Church in Brimfield where she played the organ and sang with the choir. She was also a member of The Dan Kane Singers. She loved traveling the world with her husband, Guy, to places like Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Mexico, Canada and her favorite, Hawaii. She also enjoyed camping, playing cards and dominos with her church friends, trips to the casino with her sister, watching her favorite show The Golden Girls, and simply spending time with her family and friends. Besides her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Guy B. Samson, in 2014; her son, David Norton; stepson, Guy Samson; and siblings, Robert Becker and Rachel Lussier. She will be dearly missed by her son, Clifford Norton of Palmer; daughter, Brenda Norton and her wife Julie, of Brimfield; stepson, Kevin Samson, of Ware; sister, Claire Lanctot, of Ware; her grand dog and cats, Otis, Indigo, and Koji; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be held on June 23rd from 4-6pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Lorraine's funeral service will be held the following morning, June 24th, at 9:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory can be made to The Brothers of Bethany.
