Obituary of Christine Nichols

Palmer-Christine (O'Connor) Nichols, 92, passed away June 21, 2022. Born in Holyoke on December 9, 1929, she was the daughter of Maurice J. and Mary Anne (Murphy) O'Connor, who immigrated from County Kerry Ireland. Christine grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School. On August 19, 1950, she married Alfred Nichols, Jr. In her leisure she enjoyed sewing baby quilts, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader and Red Sox Fan. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle in Palmer. For many years, Christine worked for Friendly's Ice Cream as a clerk in the workman's comprehensive department. In 2010, Christine was predeceased by her husband, Alfred. Christine's memory will forever remain with her son, Jerry and his wife Susan Nichols of Palmer, along with five grandchildren, Cady Maynard, Jaclyn Breed, Kristina, Erin, and Michael Nichols, six great grandchildren, and sister Roseann St. George of Belchertown. She also leaves many other nieces and nephews. Christine's son, Richard, passed away along with her siblings, Michael J. O'Connor, John O'Connor and Margaret Donatini. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29th from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle.
