Obituary of Laurette Irene Rourke
Palmer-Laurette I. (Provost) Rourke, 96, passed away at home June 23, 2022. She was born in Ware on January 1, 1926 and was the daughter of Arthur A. Sr. and Rose (Chauvin) Provost. Laurette grew up in Ware and has lived in Palmer for over 70 years. While her children were growing up, she was a Den mother to Pack 161 and a Girl Scout troop cookie mother. Laurette was a part of Couples Club and could often be found at the Senior Center. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle and worked at the rectory for many years along with other various jobs. In 2010, she was predeceased by her husband, John W. Rourke, Jr. Laurette leaves behind her children, Paul Rourke and his wife Donna of Lake Wales, FL, Catherine Barton of Palmer, Mary A. Kudzol and her husband Joe of Sharpsburg, GA, William Rourke of W.Springfield, Jeanne Rourke of Springfield, Margaret Swain and her husband Michael of Thorndike. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her seven siblings. Visitation will be Tuesday July 5th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to either the Palmer Senior Center or Alzheimer's Association.
