I can’t say it didn’t bring a tear to my eye when I read about Miss Crimmins’ passing. Miss Crimmins is what we/ I used to call her from the second row of my desk in the Park Street School. Some teachers you never forget. One day there was a real excitement in the classroom when some of the other students were saying “Come-on, Come-on”. They were referring to their wish for Miss Crimmins to show us the newly-planted-diamond-engagement ring on her hand. She came round her desk and held out her hand to an uproar of oh’s and awe’s. Her face became as red as her hair.
It would be nearly half a century later until I saw Mrs. Slowick again. This time she was volunteering her time to another educational forum. She was EXACTLY the same person I remembered her to be… her beautiful red hair ever-glowing.
Some people you never forget… what they were, are and gave. Miss Geraldine Crimmins Slowick was such a woman.
