Obituary of Gloria Marie McAvoy
Gloria M. (Beane) McAvoy, 96, of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on August 9 in Holyoke. Daughter of the late Walter Beane and Lillian (Bishop) Beane, Gloria was born in Anson, Maine on December 18, 1925. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Warren E. McAvoy, who passed on November 22, 2020 in Holyoke. Gloria is survived by her two children, Jean Roofe (wife of Robert) of Clinton and James McAvoy (husband of Delia) of Westfield, her two grandchildren (Jennifer Thomas and Joseph Sparkes), and three great grandchildren (Maeva and Maxwell Thomas, and Asha Sparkes), as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to Gloria’s parents and husband she was predeceased by three infant children, Mary, Ann, and Joseph. Gloria will be remembered for her love of babies. She also enjoyed wintering in Florida with Warren, especially sharing walks on the beach. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday August 16 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley with committal to follow at MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 11:00 a.m. Kindly meet directly at the church.
