Obituary of Alice E. Keyes

Alice E. (Kleindienst) Keyes, 92, passed away August 7, 2022. Born January 6, 1930 in Springfield, she was the daughter of John and Annette Henault Kleindienst. Alice grew up in Chicopee and lived in Granby for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ Congregational of Granby and was very active in the congregation. She and her family attended church every Sunday without fail and she dedicated her time to helping the church prosper through the years. She was involved with the Granby Grange, the former Women's Club, the PTA and was a member of the 1947 Class. She was an extrovert and loved people. If she knew you, she wanted to know how your mother, father, sister and brother were and would listen carefully for as long as you talked. She always had time for everyone and welcomed visitors who dropped by the house like they were family. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries and loved sending out cards. She knew exactly how many days it would take to arrive at your house so a card arrived on your special day. In 2011, Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Edwin A. Keyes. She leaves her children, Allen and his wife Judith of Cheshire, CT and Allison E. Craig and her partner Michael Carr of Springfield, and Bonnie Carpenter of NC, who she considered her “other daughter.” Alice also leaves a granddaughter, Heather Keyes and her partner, Tommy Ianucci, two great grandchildren, Nathan and Dylan Walter and his wife, Desiree and their two children, Abigail Lynne and Mason Scott Walter.  Alice also leaves her siblings, Claire Couture, Robert Kleindienst and his wife Lynn as well as sister-in-law, Constance Kleindienst also survive her. Besides her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brother John Kleindienst and brother-in-law, Armand Couture.
