Obituary of Wilfred A. Groux

Belchertown- Wilfred A. Groux, 94, passed away September 18, 2022 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, MA. He was born on January 10, 1928 in Chicopee to the late Wilfred and Emma (Dion) Groux. Wilfred proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a WWII Veteran. Following his honorable service, he worked as a Fork Lift Operator at UniRoyal for many years. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belchertown and was a member of the American Legion Post 239. He loved woodworking and used to build furniture, toys, and picture frames with great skill.

Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Louise M. Groux, in 2021, and by his sisters, Bertha, Doris, and Shirley. He will be greatly missed by his children, Christine A. Woynar of Orange, MA., Richard A. Groux of Belchertown, Suzanne Biogatti of Tavares, FL., Michael E. Groux of Little River, SC., Kathleen C. Groux of Chula Vista, CA., and Steven R. Groux of Belchertown. He also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A calling hour will be held on September 29th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi and can also be attended virtually by visiting https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/4423225119. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 239, PO BOX 235, 66 State St. Belchertown, MA 01007.
