Obituary of Jimmy L Merritt

Warren- Jimmy L Merritt, 86, passed away October 15, 2022. He was born on April 6, 1936 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Charlie Mack and Betty (Music) Merritt. Moving to Connecticut at a young age, he started a new life in the New England area where he remained for the remainder of his life. Jimmy worked as a meat cutter for most of his work life, working for companies like Hummel Brothers in New Haven, CT and other Butcher Shops. More recently, Jimmy was employed at Big Y and in the meat department at Walmart. He continued working until fully retiring at the age of 81. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He loved all animals, especially his hunting dogs, and was always good with them. He enjoyed training them and spending time with them. Jimmy loved his family and cherished every moment he spent among family and friends alike.

Besides his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his son, Jimmy Merritt Jr., daughter, Rhoda Mae Merritt, step-daughter, Natalie Pascale, and his step-son, Henry Gagnon.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 38 years, Lenora (Frappier) Merritt, and his children, Kathy Merritt of Bondsville, Bonnie Smith of Wales, Jamie Merritt of Warren, and Step-Daughter Kimberly St. John of Warren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25th from 9:30-10:30am at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Jimmy's Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am at St. Paul's Church in Warren. Burial will immediately follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
