Obituary of Ellen Mae Cavanaugh

Palmer-Ellen Mae Cavanaugh, 76, passed away peacefully December 7, 2022 at Baystate Wing Hospital. Born in Palmer on August 9, 1946, she was the daughter of Jeremiah M. and Rhea (Riopel) Cavanaugh. Ellen will be truly missed. She is survived by her six siblings, Geraldine Spodarek, Garrett Cavanaugh, Patrick Cavanaugh, Theresa Petrashewicz and her husband Richard, Rhea Dornhofer, and Linda France and her husband Ted; her Godson, Ethan Gauthier; her niece and Goddaughter, Kim Palmer; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided to Ellen by her brother-in-law Richard, niece Kim Palmer, Paula J. Fitts and Rachel Gonzalez. Besides her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her siblings, Rosemarie Conlin, Joseph Cavanaugh and Michael Cavanaugh, as well as her niece, Jane Kelly. A period of visitation will be held Saturday December 17 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. The family is requesting that everyone in attendance wear a mask for the duration of services.
