Obituary of Clarence Joseph Chaisson

Chicopee-Clarence J. "Larry" Chaisson, 90, passed away December 25, 2022 at Holyoke Medical Center. Born October 2, 1932 in Epping, NH, he was the son of Bernadette and Aubin Chaisson. Larry grew up in New Hampshire and honorably served his country during Korea in the US Air Force. He lived in Holyoke for many years before relocating to Chicopee in 1994. Working as a kettle operator at Monsanto for many years, Larry retired in 1994. Larry loved music and was the director for the Harmonicats. He played the guitar and harmonica and was a member of SPAH, Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed time watching the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. He was also a member of the Grand Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. In 2005, Larry was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Greene) and his memory will be forever cherished by his children, Diane L. Soriano and her husband Wayne of Granby, Jeanne B. Smigiel and her husband Anthony of Chicopee and Lawrence D. "Larry" Chaisson and his wife Pamela of Bradenton, FL. Special thanks to his daughter-in-law and caregiver, Mary Chaisson Sullivan. Papa, as he was lovingly referred to will be long remembered by his three cherished grandchildren, Eric, Cullyn and Alyssa as well as great grandchildren, Jacob, Emalee, Chloe, and Avellina. Besides his wife, Clarence was predeceased by his only brother, Joseph. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a service to begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to St. Anne's Church CCD education, 59 College St., Chicopee, MA 01020.
