Obituary of Heidi Marie Cahoon - McEwen

Heidi Cahoon-McEwen brought drive and purpose to her roles as educator, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She passed away on Sunday, January 15th at her place of residence. She was born to Donald and Cynthia Cahoon on November 7th, 1980. She lived in Massachusetts, Austria, and New Jersey before she studied at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst to pursue a degree in education. She earned a 4.0, then maintained her perfect marks at Fitchburg State University and American International College, where she earned advanced degrees in Education Administration. She raised her three children, Jason, Mikayla, and Shaun, and stood as a loyal wife to her husband, Brandon McEwen while she pursued excellence in her education. In addition to her husband and children, Heidi is survived by her parents, Donald and Cynthia, her brother, Christopher, and her loving dogs, Stormi and Nova. Though she has passed, her devotion toward uplifting others through education and love left a sustained impact upon her family, friends, colleagues, and students. She used her light to enkindle confidence and direction in those that sought her guidance. Among her family members and friends, Heidi is remembered as one who laughed from her shoulders to her toes. Though she once loved copying her brother’s orders at restaurants, her approach to her personal and professional tasks were creative as well as calculated. Her aspirations to promote equality and diversity stirred her to listen to those that were often brushed to the side. She had no fear in speaking out against any injustice, large or small. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, January 23rd at noon. The Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church at 30 Main Street. South Hadley, MA. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. at the church. In place of sending gifts or donations, Heidi’s family encourages supporters to donate to the Massachusetts Advocates for Children under her name.
