Obituary of Yvonne Godek

East Longmeadow-Yvonne "Winnie" (Stone) Godek, 100, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2023 with her daughter by her side. Winnie was born in Chicopee Falls on July 29, 1922, to Dewey and Yvonne (Paradise) Stone, and, after the death of her mother, grew up there with her uncle and aunt, Harold and Albertine Cowette, and in Holland, MA., with her uncle, Wilbrod Cowette. She has lived in East Longmeadow with her daughter, Linda, for the past 20 years. She proudly retired from Dielectrics, Inc., after 25 years, where she was plant supervisor. Winnie was a woman of many facets: she started oil painting in her 30s and only gave it up in her late 90s, due to declining vision. She loved being outdoors "up to camp" in Holland: gardening or just sitting peacefully. Anybody who knew her loved her wit, and sense of humor. She had a generous heart, taking care of her neighbors and friends as if they were family. Above all, she adored her daughter, her grandsons and her great-granddaughter, and was eagerly looking forward to meeting her new great-grandson, Joseph John. She welcomed her grandsons' partners with an open heart and open arms, and much love. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Linda Hornig, her grandsons Joseph Landolfi and his wife Gina of Springfield, Carl Hornig and his partner Erin Crawford of Three Rivers, her beloved great-granddaughter Gabriella Marie Landolfi, and her dear friend of 45 years, Sandra Cole of Sturbridge. Winnie was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Godek, and her siblings Barbara, Jane, and Frank Stone. Services will be held privately at a future date, and Beers and Story has been entrusted with the arrangements.
