Obituary of Tamara Royal

Tamara M. Royal, 63, of Granby passed away on Tuesday, January 31st at Cooley Dickinson Hospital after a short illness. Born in North Adams , Tammy was a 1977 graduate of Granby High School. She continued her studies at Regis College. After graduation, Tammy earned a master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College, spending a semester in Spain. Besides several years at Atlas Copco Compressors in Holyoke working together with her father, Tammy spent many dedicated years as a travel agent at Carroll Travel and Sanditz Travel among others. As a result, she had a love of travel which she pursued in her free time, often with her mother and sister.

Tammy leaves behind her mother Lela (Bass) Royal who will continue to cherish her memory. She will be fondly remembered by cousins Richard Royal of Cheshire and Allan Royal of North Adams and their families. Tammy will also be sadly missed by an extended family as well as many close longtime friends. She was predeceased by her father Robert (Bob) Royal and sister Ann Royal.

Tammy will be remembered as a warm and loving daughter, sister, cousin, and the most supportive and loyal friend a person could have.

Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 10, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. A funeral home service will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 pm. The family kindly asks that no flowers be sent and instead wishes for contributions to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Tammy.
