Obituary of William J. DeFilippi

Palmer -William J. DeFilippi, 79, passed away April 11, 2023, at Life Care Center at Wilbraham with his family by his side. He was born on April 23, 1943, in Ludlow, MA to Michael and Dorothy (Doersam) DeFilippi. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1964-1967. William was raised in Springfield and moved to Palmer in 2006. In 2000, he retired from the US Post Office where he worked at the Bulk Mail Center as a mail handler for 31 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and singing karaoke, especially Frank Sinatra songs. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn (Belsky) DeFilippi and a daughter, Christine LaMontagne and husband Glen of Wilbraham. He also leaves three grandchildren, Collin LaFramboise, Tyler and Alyssa LaMontagne; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Robert and James. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will take place Friday, April 21st at 9:00am at the Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
