Kenjamin Thompson

Obituary of Kenjamin E. Thompson

The love and life of Kenjamin “Kenji” Thompson was shared for 8 years, a life that ended on April 25, 2023.  Kenji blessed his parents, Andrew R. and Jemma Joy (Alegado) Thompson with his birth on May 15, 2014.  Eleven months later, the family welcomed their second son, Lawrence.  Old Mill Pond school was a second home for Kenji through third grade.  There were many special connections he had with fellow classmates, paras, teachers and administrators through the years.

He was a beacon of love, light and happiness for all those who were lucky enough to know him.  Withstanding incredible odds, he lived a fulfilled life.  He loved being around people, most especially his best friend and brother, Lawrence.  Some of his favorite things included bubbles and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.  He enjoyed listening to his Bum (grandfather) play guitar and his Lolo (grandfather) play the ukulele.  Just last month, he and his brother won the Pinewood Derby through the Cub Scouts and he was so proud to be student of the month in April.  He was an honorary member of the Amherst College football team and played baseball for “Miracle League of Western Ma”.

Though his life held challenges, he experienced so much joy from playing with beach balls, sword fighting, rough-housing, being a prankster and doing anything & everything with his family.  This included hiking, camping, beach trips and Six Flags adventures.  Kenji gave the best hugs.  Along with his parents and younger brother, Kenji's life will be forever remembered by his paternal great grandfather Richard Thompson as well as his maternal great grandmother Primitiva Domingo Galvez; paternal grandparents, Ingrid “Mimi” and Warren Thompson along with maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Nelly “Lola” Alegado.  His memory will also be cherished by his aunts, uncles and cousins; Jarrod and Becky Thompson, Chad and Sara Thompson, Erin and Tyler Pinstein, along with Jane and Wendi Alegado, Joseph Alegado, and Jenelyn and Colton Herfield.

A visitation time will be held on Saturday, May 6th from 11am to 1pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Native American ceremony to follow at 1:30pm at Silver Bell Farm, 305 Silver St, Monson, MA 01057.
