Daniel Tremblay

Obituary of Daniel Raymond Tremblay

Granby - Daniel R.Tremblay, 82, passed away on May 10, 2023 at home surrounded by his
family. He was born on September 8, 1940 in Holyoke, MA to Joseph and Lea (Martin)
Tremblay. Dan was a 1958 graduate of So.Hadley High School and attended Holyoke Junior
College. He was raised in Holyoke and moved to Granby at the age of 13, where he met and
married the love of his life and built their forever home. He was a communicant of Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church.

Daniel worked as a truck driver for Piels Brewery, Plymouth Paper Company and retired from
Hudson Valley Paper Company in 2009. His diligent work ethic began at the early age of 13
after the untimely death of his father. He conscientiously provided for the welfare of his mother
and as an adult placed the needs of his wife and children before his own. He was admired for
his skilled craftsmanship in granite/stonework and carpentry. His vast backyard landscaping
included varied fences, beautiful arbors, intricate granite walkways with detailed gates
surrounded by artful stonewalls. The cardinals and sparrows nested in the trees, shrubs, bushes
and myriad of flowers he planted in this paradise. He took great pleasure in listening to artists
such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Andy Williams and others of that time period.
He enjoyed gardening, watching the Red Sox, taking road trips and vacationing, especially to
Maine and sampling new restaurants. But his favorite cook and baker was his Pat and he
anticipated savoring her creations after a long day of work. Reading comic strips was a daily
pleasure that included Peanuts, For Better or Worse, Blondie and Family Circus. From
childhood, Dan loved the Lone Ranger on the radio, Superman on TV and film and John Wayne
in movies. He dreamed of becoming a cowboy one day. He appreciated a good joke and was a
consummate storyteller. His infectious, booming laugh would fill the air. Anyone who knew him
would be gifted with one of his legendary, all enveloping hugs that left no doubt that you were
loved. The overarching motto of his existence was “I loved my wife” and he lived it out with
conviction daily.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Vermette) Tremblay and their 8
children: Tina-Marie Tremblay (Mark), Tammy Cyr (Richard), Terri Connaughton (Norman),
Tracie Horan (Timothy), Todd (Kathleen), Timothy, Thomas (Stephanie) and Tricia Roy
(Richard). He cherished their 15 grandchildren: Melissa, Alicia (Richard), Danielle (Michael),
Nicholas, Madelyn,Timothy (Morgan), Catherine, Abigail, Shannon, Emily, Sophia, Stella, Faith,
Jessica and Grace. Also, 2 great-grandsons Jasper and Henry. Besides his parents he was
predeceased by 3 siblings Claire Gaj, Donald and Francis Tremblay.
