Obituary of Gary L. Picco

Brimfield- Gary L. Picco, 67, passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2023. Gary was born on July 1, 1955 in Palmer to the late Robert and Frances (Tetreault) Picco. He graduated from Palmer High School and went on to earn his Associate Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. Gary was extremely driven and worked his way up in the HVAC industry. He began working for New England Mechanical Services in 1986 as a sales engineer, and through the years earned Master Contractor licenses as an Electrician and Pipefitter, and in Sheet Metal and Refrigeration. In 2021, he retired as Vice President of the Massachusetts Division after 35 years with the company.

Growing up, Gary enjoyed spending time at the Picco family cottage on the Nonesuch River in Scarborough, Maine. He would later go on to share his love of this special place with his own family.

Gary was proud of the home he built, and it became a place that held countless family get-togethers. Sunday dinners and Christmas gatherings are a cherished memory of family and friends. Gary was passionate about cooking for the people he loved, and his children plan to carry on the tradition of making his homemade ravioli.

Gary will be remembered for his generosity and using his many skills to help family and friends. He had many eccentricities that made him who he was, and his family and friends will forever smile when thinking about the pride he had surrounding his Italian heritage, his spirited conversations about politics, his many hobbies, and his amazing sense of fashion.

Gary will be deeply missed by his high school sweetheart and wife, Mary (Korzec) of 47 years; son, Kyle and wife, Sarah, of Portsmouth, NH; daughter, Carly Zisk and husband, Brian, of Scarborough, Maine; daughter, Cria and partner, Scott Sheldon, of Holland; his grandsons, Arlo and Warren Zisk and grand-dog Tilly, affectionately known to Gary as "Skippy". Gary leaves behind siblings, Robert Picco, Dale (Paul) Genholt, and Glenn (Fran) Picco. He also leaves behind a large close-knit extended family and many friends. Gary was predeceased by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; sister, Jody Flowers; brothers-in-law, Craig Webster and Everett Walker; nephew, Cory Flowers; and niece, Elena Picco.
