Obituary of Lee A Lamoureux

Lee A. Lamoureux, 77, died peacefully on June 19, 2023, at home with his family by his side. Born October 17, 1945, in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late Herbert A. and Mildred (Kuenzel) Lamoureux. Lee lived in Belchertown most of his life and graduated valedictorian from Belchertown High School in 1963. He proudly served in the Navy Seabees from 1966 to 1968 and did two tours in Vietnam. Lee had a passion for carpentry. He worked at UMass in the physical plant for 33 years before retiring in 2002. Lee looked forward to hunting season every year and took the trip of a lifetime to the Arctic Circle for a caribou hunt. He also loved his frequent Costco trips with his sweet daughter.

Lee will be greatly missed by his wife Karen (Gomes) of nearly 50 years, his loving daughter Leah of Clifton Park, NY, his son Luke of Hartford, CT and his 3 grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brother, Mark. Extended family and friends will remember Lee for his sarcastic sense of humor and his willingness to always lend a hand.

The family would like to thank Dr. Marsh, the wonderful staff at the D’Amour Cancer Center and Lee’s home health aide, Cindy, of Baystate Hospice.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, June 25th, from 1-3pm at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. The family will gather for a private burial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, perform a random act of kindness in Lee’s honor.
