Obituary of Alan P Wishart

Chicopee - Alan P. Wishart, 72, passed away June 28, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center. Born October 6, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Robert L. and Dorothy M. (Lukasik) Wishart. Alan grew up in Pennsylvania and was nationally recognized in high school snare drum competitions along with his twin. He attended Kent State University where he was on the men’s diving team. After leaving college, Alan moved to Massachusetts living in Springfield initially, then Holyoke and ultimately Chicopee where he and his first wife, Donna Wishart Torres, raised their two children. As a carpenter in the Union local #108, Alan (Al) worked for decades in his trade. He was a skilled craftsman, known for his attention to detail, who took pride in his work. In his earlier years, Al played on men’s softball teams, loved coaching his son’s little league baseball teams, and never missed one of his daughter’s dance recitals. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing Keno and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Al will be remembered by his family and friends who loved him as a very humble, hardworking, big-hearted person who was always teasing and cracking jokes. He will be greatly missed by his son, Alan and his wife, Brenda Wishart and daughter, Heather and her husband, Tim Burke, all of Granby, as well as grandchildren, Brandon Wishart, Ryan Burke and Whitney Burke. Alan also leaves behind his fiancée of 16 years, Lynn Houle, along with her daughter, Jennifer LaFromboise and her two children, Aliza and Matthew Mcleish, who Al also considered grandchildren. In addition, Al is survived by his brother Robert Wishart of PA; sister Beverly and her husband Robert Allridge of PA; twin brother Bruce and wife Alice Wishart of SC; and, brother Wayne and his wife Vicki Wishart of FL. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, South Hadley, MA, with prayers to begin at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society.
