Obituary of Jean M. Bibeau

Jean (Jeanie) Marie Bibeau, 80, peacefully passed away at home in Belchertown, MA on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Joseph R. Bibeau, Sr. in 2017, and by her grandsons Justin Mason in 2016, and Nicholas Bibeau in 2018.

She leaves behind her only sister, Anne M. Rosenberg of Holyoke, MA; her children Julia M. Beaudoin and husband Claude R. Beaudoin of Belchertown, MA, Theresa L. Wooten and husband Vincent Kavanagh of Ludlow, MA, Catherine A. Mason of Boynton Beach, FL, and Joseph R. Bibeau, Jr. and wife Judit Bibeau of Coventry, CT; her grandchildren Paul Gasparrini and wife Krysten, Michael and Kayla Bibeau, Savana Wooten, Nicole and Claude John Beaudoin, and Alexander Leon; her great granddaughters Eliza and Naomi Gasparrini; and her niece and God-daughter Jennifer Montagna and husband Nicholas of Holyoke, MA. She will also be missed by her beloved little dog, RayRay.

Jean was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1942 to John R. Fitzgerald and Dorothy (Sands) Fitzgerald and grew up in East Springfield. She attended Tech High School, graduating in 1960 as a member of the Pep Squad and Future Nurses Club. After creating a family with her high school sweetheart, Jean went on to get her LPN from Springfield Trade School in the early 1970’s. Jean soon began working on West 4 at Wesson Memorial Hospital; followed by Wesson’s Out-Patient Medical Clinic where she worked for many years. Following her retirement to Florida, she spent many summers in Ludlow while continuing to work as an LPN on a per-diem basis for a variety of Baystate Medical’s Adult/Primary Care Offices.

Jean enjoyed her family’s early vacations on Cape Cod. She also loved her years spent living in Florida, traveling, cruising, going to the beach, going to the movies, playing shuffle board, and fostering kittens with her husband Joe.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 12, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 181 Hubbard Street, Ludlow, MA with a Celebration of Jean’s Life being held immediately following.
