
Obituary of Paul Catalano
South Hadley- Paul R. Catalano, 89, passed away August 2, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1933 in Holyoke to the late Paul and Jane (Delloso) Catalano. From a young age, Paul worked alongside his parents at Paul's Cafe. He later went on to purchase his own restaurants to include Notch Steakhouse in Amherst, Delaney House in Holyoke, and Sweetheart Restaurant in Shelburne Falls. Paul was a devoted husband and father, and he and his late wife, Dolores, were inseparable throughout the years.
He was a talented musician and played the saxophone and piano. He also held a Pilot's License and had many good stories to share of his flying escapades. He enjoyed horse races and loved cooking for his family.
Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Dolores (Kennedy) Catalano, in 2019, and their daughter, Linda Caron, in 2016. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lucy Keaton and Valentino Catalano, and his nephew, Randy Catalano.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Paul and his wife, Lisa, and Judy Comforte and her husband, Anthony, both of Chicopee; grandchildren, Gina, Ashley, Celina, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Madison, and Parker; many nieces and nephews, notably Penny Gagne and Richard Catalano, with whom he shared a very close bond; and special friends, Chester Marciniak and Anthony Comforte Junior.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 10-11am with a Funeral Service at 11am at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
